Senior Staff Accountant – St. Augustine
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing financial records, ensuring accuracy, and supporting financial operations. The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with the accounts payable department, assisting with monthly closing, journal entries, and asset tracking. This position is responsible for devising efficient accounting processes and implementing best practices to improve the overall financial reporting framework, prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses that will be utilized by management to make informed business decisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly financial reports.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare journal entries and conduct regular reviews of financial data for accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in budget preparation and forecasts to support departmental planning and decision-making.
- Support annual audits, including 401k audit, and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal accounting processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience as a Senior Staff Accountant or similar role in corporate or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to identify discrepancies.
- Strong ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with team members.
